CHEN YOU CHIEN & SETH ROODMAN - THE BROAD MUSEUM OF ART
In order to create more fluidity, we identified two different modes of circulations; the primary and the secondary, while both critical to one another. The primary brings people through both the main mass and front arms while the secondary leads people around the main mass. Subsequently, the building took on multiple stories that not only move people in and out of formal art space and allow the experience at the museum to move beyond interaction with literal art, but also capture relation with other people in the museum as part of the grand experience.
There are two atrium spaces, one exterior and one interior, that add form, function and aesthetic value to the building. The exterior atrium provided an auditorium for lectures and performances, while the interior introduced natural light in such a fashion that any piece of artworks feature here truly took the stage.
